SPF (sun protection factor)
back to ingredient overview
A good sun protection product should protect from UVA and UVB radiation. Especially if you are planning to stay in the sun for a longer period of time, it is important to use a product that gives protection to both kinds of UV rays . Check the product label if it does! An example will probably explain best what the SPF factor exactly means in terms of protection:
- a person with skin type 2 will burn after approximately 20 minutes in the afternoon sun (unprotected). If using an SPF 12 the sun burn will start to happen after 12x20 minutes, so after 4 hours.
After a recent study of the American Academy of Dermatology scientists now believe that not only UV filters, but also
adding antioxidants in sun protection products is crucial for optimal UV protection. Click

Luckily the emerginC SPF30+ products already contain high doses of antioxidants!
