Copper serves a number of key functions in the skin. it is essential in the production of collagen and elastin as it stimulates enzymes (specifically, lysil oxidase) to help build new elastin and collagen. in the production of collagen, lysil oxidase (which production is stimulated by copper) helps link collagen molecule to form collagen fibers. copper also plays a key role in the production of keratin in the epidermis, thereby helping to improve skin tone and texture.
